Ways to Use Motion Sensor Lights for Home and Family Safety.
Ok, so you know that security lighting around your home is really important, and motion sensor lights should be a part of your home security plan. Now lets take a look at how to use them in the best way possible. I have already recommended to you to keep your front porch light (and yard light, if you have one) on during all hours of the night. I know it would be really annoying to have the entire back yard lit up all night, but let me tell you a very compelling reason to have lights activated by motion for the back of the house. When I have found prowlers lurking around homes, they have been hiding out in dark shadows. They don't like light for fear of being seen. Remember, our goal is to prevent burglars from looking at your house as an easy target. However, you probably don't want to have your yard lit up all night. Motion activated lights at strategic places around the rear and sometimes the side of your home can send the bad guys shopping elsewhere. Take a look around your house at night. Where are the dark areas? Would some flood lights installed on the back of the house solve the problem? Many homes already have a light above or near the back door. If you don't want to leave that light on all night, the least expensive solution for you would be to replace that light with a flood light activated by a motion sensor. That way the light will only turn on when motion is detected in your back yard. You should be able to easily find some of these motion activated lights at any home improvement store – they are relatively inexpensive considering the value they offer for safety. If you want to complete your home security lighting plan, then consider having lights installed on the sides of your house as well and near any other dark areas that are not already covered. You should definitely have a qualified electrician take care of any new wiring or electrical boxes that need to be installed.
